Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

The research group

We are looking for an ambitious and skilled doctoral student to join the Chronic Inflammatory Disease Epidemiology group at the Clinical Epidemiology Division. The group is approximately 25 people (doctoral students, postdocs, senior researchers, biostatisticians) conducting epidemiological research using Swedish registers and clinical data. The student will work under the supervision of Associate Professor Elizabeth Arkema and be part of a team focusing on the causes and consequences of lupus and sarcoidosis.

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student

The doctoral student project will focus on assessing the risks of adverse outcomes associated with lupus and sarcoidosis and their treatments. The findings from this project will be used in treatment decisions made by doctors and their patients. The project will use data from the Swedish national and population registers. The student will take part in planning studies, database management, statistical analysis, writing scientific publications and presenting results. The student is expected to work together with other team members in teaching and learning, participating in group discussions and taking part in educational activities at the division.
