Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

The research group

You will be a doctoral student at the Department of Oncology-Pathology at the Karolinska Institutet, in the group of Tina Dalianis. Our group is working on human papillomaviruses (HPV) and cancer especially head and neck cancer and childhood cancer. We are presently very much involved in targeted therapy especially for childhood cancer and tonsillar and base of tongue cancer. More of our research is presented on our web page: https://ki.se/en/onkpat/tina-dalianis-group

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student

The doctoral student project is very much focused on experimental targeted therapy with the aim to do translational research and provide our clinical collaborators valuable knowledge for improving patient treatment and survival.

Various cell lines are treated with different drugs and the effects of the drugs are tested for their effects on the cell lines with different assays for viability, proliferation, cytoxicity etc. both in vitro and in vivo.

A candidate with theoretical and practical experience in the above subjects and with experience in cell culture, FACS analysis, pharmacological treatments and molecular techniques such as qPCR, CETSA e.g. is an advantage. Furthermore, in vivo work may apply as well so experience there is also of benefit.
