To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.
The Department of Oncology-Pathology at Karolinska Institutet conducts basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer. The position is placed in the research laboratory of Professor Simon Ekman in the research team of Docent Per Hydbring. The group focuses on the development of novel treatments for lung cancer. The overall aim is to develop new oncological treatments through the approach of precision cancer medicine.
The candidate will work on several projects regarding coding and non-coding RNAs, analysis of DNA aberrations as well as proteomics. The duties involve routine molecular biology techniques, drug screening, ex vivo models as well as computational and biostatistical analyses of expression arrays and sequencing data.

- Show proficiency in English equivalent to the course English B/English 6 at Swedish upper secondary school.

(A) and (B) can only be certified by the documentation requirement for doctoral education.
To be selected for doctoral/third-cycle/PhD education, it is advantageous if the applicant has demonstrated research expertise in the following experimental methodologies:
In addition, it is advantageous if the applicant has computational experience in handling and analyzing big data, e.g. RNA-seq and whole exome-seq data.
The doctoral student will be employed on a doctoral studentship maximum 4 years full-time.
