Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

We are now recruiting a student for doctoral education. For more information regarding doctoral (PhD) education, see: http://www.ki.se/doctoral.

The research group

The research at our lab The Reproductive Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology aims to yield new key information on the pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is linked to multiple severe health consequences, including reproductive, metabolic, and psychiatric disorders. The research is translational, and in collaboration with others, we combine clinical studies with human in vitro cell culture models and different mice models.

The group works in an inspiring and interactive research environment in Biomedicum at Campus Solna and has on-going collaborative projects with national and international colleagues.

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student

The project will investigate human adipose tissue and endometrial cell-type specific disease signatures by single-cell gene expression and possible tissue cross-talk. The PhD project will utilize our human tissue in vitro culture systems to investigate molecular function, tissue-cross talk underlying cell-type-specific disease markers and how they respond to known and novel treatment. Eventually we will also utilize our in vivo mice modelss.

The student is expected to fulfil the course requirements of the doctoral program, participate in regular group meetings, seminars, present at national/international meetings and take part in routine work within the research team. Most important the student is expected to plan and drive the research projects, perform experiments, analyze, and present results.kd
