Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a doctoral student means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of experienced researchers and following an individual study plan. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

The research group

We invite applications for a PhD student position in Dr. Francois Lallemend research group, which explores the specific neural elements and pathways underlying sensory perception and their central integration in the auditory, vestibular, and sensorimotor systems. The Lallemend lab is located in the new building Biomedicum which includes 5 departments. The position will be placed in the Department of Neuroscience, which includes several research groups working on a broad range of studies on the molecular and cellular levels, networks of neurons, and the organization of the nervous system as a whole.

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student

The PhD student who joins our team will be investigating the sensorineural substrate that perceive and/or transmit the sensory inputs in the vestibular organs and to the first relay center in the brainstem, and their plasticity in various conditions. The projects in the lab make use of various methods, including mouse genetic tools, single cell omics, virus tracing technology, histology, and behavioral assays to reveal the different sensory channels and associated central circuits that underlie our sense of proprioception and balance. The candidate will characterize the biological properties of newly identified molecular cell types and explore their circuit integration and function.
